Flight 752

During moments of distress, the only sounds you perceive in your mind are the beating of your heart and the rhythm of your breath. Although your surroundings may be filled with chaos, your mind remains in a state of profound silence. The downing of Flight 752 by the Islamic Republic of Iran serves as the inspiration for this piece. In January 2021, amid tensions between the Trump administration and Iran over the killing of Qassem Soleimani, the Islamic Republic of Iran deliberately shot down its own passenger plane, claiming that they were targeting a US missile, resulting in the tragic deaths of all 176 passengers on board. The passengers were Iranian-Canadian immigrants, scholars, doctors, engineers, and young students who had built their lives in Canada with the hope of a better future. However, all that remained of them were their luggage; even their valuables were looted by the Iranian regime after the plane was shot down.
